Services

I provide the following top quality services:

Set Ups

Every guitar, even a brand new one, benefits from a professional set up. I can make sure that everything is working as it should and playing and strung up the way that you would wish it. Email or call me so we can discuss how you prefer your instrument set up.

Fret Dresses

No more rough ends or scratchy feeling frets. Fret dressing eliminates the buzzing associated with high or low frets. Also, if your frets feel sharp on the edges, or the frets don’t feel smooth when you’re bending strings, then your instrument may need a fret dress. Smoothing and re-profiling frets gives them a silky smooth feel.

Re-Fretting

When your frets are so low that the problem can no longer be solved by fret dressing, then it’s time for a re-fret. This means replacing all of the frets of your guitar. This can be done with rosewood, maple or ebony fingerboards with or without binding or lacquer. Prices from £150. Please phone for an estimate.

Electronics

I can solve your electrical problems - from earth hum, scratchy tone and volume pots, dead pick-ups and instrument faults. I can replace and upgrade parts.

Damage Repairs

Repairs from removing scratches and dents, to repairing lacquer damage, to head stock breaks, neck replacements, rewiring, replacing scratchy pots and dead pick-ups.

Wax Dipping Pick-Ups

Pick-ups that whistle or howl uncontrollably could be fixed with wax dipping. The whistling is caused by vibrations, either loose coil wire on the pick-up bobbins or possibly an air gap between the pick-up and the pick-up covers. Call me and I can repair this.

Pick-Up Re-Winding

Pick-up gone dead or maybe you just want a more vintage or hotter sounding pick-up? I can re-wind your pick-up for you. This will be cheaper than buying a replacement pick-up.

Customisation

Everything from changing parts (pick-ups, hardware, Bigsby trems, machine heads) to giving your guitar and hardware an ‘aged’ finish (see photographs).
